August 2011

August has been overrun by football.  The boys signed up for football on July 30th and their first practice was on August 1st.  They really love their football pads and helmets and wanted to wear their football attire often.  Their second week of football they had a football camp at the high school and did drills with the high school football team.  They really felt big and loved it.

One of the many uses of football attire.  Definitely made practicing much more delightful.
School started on August 15th.  Dallin started 3rd grade this year.

Zion started 5th grade, and attended the 5th grade Camp Tecumseh last week.  He was gone for 3 days and 2 nights.  He came home remembering every meal.  His greatest mishaps were falling out his canoe and losing his soda money and getting a sliver.

Eden started kindergarten.  This was the first year our school did all day kindergarten and Eden has adjusted very well.  She loves eating lunch at school and has even been on the bus twice ( a definite highlight for her)!

Gracelyn was prepared for school and was quite sad when she didn't stay at school.  When Eden's teacher mistakenly greeted her as Eden and started putting Eden's name tag on Grace, Grace almost made it!

Eden did finally get her name tag!
We decorated the girls room, and Eden loved helping make the paper flower garland.

On Saturday the boys had a football Jamboree.
Dallin is standing with his team the Chicago Bears.  He is #5.

 All the teams lined up.
Zion's team, the Eagles and his coach, who he thinks is one of the nicest people he has ever met ( pictured next to the kid on the side lines).  Zion missed the Jamboree due to the flu, but its fun to see his team.
Dallin's team.

Dallin pictured closest to the front being an active lineman.

Other "highlights" of the month:
We took Dallin to the orthodontist and found out he needs all kinds of fun treatment to avoid major oral surgery and problems later.  He will get expanders on his top and bottom this week.
Jared has been trying ASEA, a water that may help with his headaches and energy.  He has still had headaches, this weekend a fairly bad one.
I have been trying to get used to having just one kid at home.  I had visions of getting tons of stuff done, but so far I'm just the sole entertainer.  It is nice to take her running with me to the park.  She loves going places. Preschool registration is on Wednesday and her first day will be Friday.

Catch up!

Catch Up!
I will only attempt to highlight the past 4 months!
Time passes quickly  when...

 Grandma comes!!,

the boys participate in Raingutter Regata,
we play dress up (notice the paint color),
we get ourselves in binds (ie: how did this happen??),
we paint the basement and bring in light,
we visit the Kohl's children museum in Chicago,

we paint the upstairs,
make fun memories with Daddy,

(I just loved all of these pics!!)
 decorate our newly painted home,
and enjoy the new color!
Life keeps passing by quickly.  This week I will sign Eden up for kindergarten and Gracelyn up for preschool.  The boys also started soccer last week and are loving it.
Lots of people have been asking me how Jared is doing, so a quick update on him:  He has had a pretty rough winter with constant headaches and fatigue.  He had another MRI in January, and we were blessed that he had no new growth.  He did meet with a neurologist and had several other tests done and medication prescribed that made him feel worse than he did before.  He is fairly adverse to medication and so he currently does not take anything.  We are grateful he is able to work and keeps pushing forward.
I love the new paint color in our house- thanks to my mom for helping me paint the upstairs!  It looks wonderful!!  It definitely helps me feel happy.
